Be a Listener
Pastor Zubeda Sing · 2 min read

“I have a lot more to say about this, but it is hard to get it across to you since you’ve picked up this bad habit of not listening. By this time you ought to be teachers yourselves, yet here I find you need someone to sit down with you and go over the basics on God again, starting from square one—baby’s milk, when you should have been on solid food long ago! Milk is for beginners, inexperienced in God’s ways; solid food is for the mature, who have some practice in telling right from wrong”
Listening is a developed skill. We have an ear that one can see from our physical body, the ear I am speaking of is the inner ear that is trained to hear the voice of God. This ear hears even the still small voice of God when he is speaking to us. It requires us to stop and really listen as the things we really need to hear are very important to our current life and also our future. It is the kind of hearing that helps guide us in our walk and gives us direction. This inner ear is necessary in your prayer life and also in your busy work day as God’s wisdom will be imparted to you as you listen.
Do not be too busy to listen when people speak, it will be a loss to you to ignore someone when they are speaking. Sometimes in the midst of the conversation there is an opportunity for you or a way out of a dilemma you are facing. Allow yourself to become a listening ear to the weary so you can encourage and build people up. Listening when people speak shows that you care enough for the person to afford them your valuable time. This sends out the message that the person is important. This kind of act really builds the person you are listening to. It also sows seed for yourself, because you have listened, God will send someone who will listen when you need to be listened to. Practice listening.
