Grace for Change

Pastor Zubeda Sing · 1 min read

“So when they had finished breakfast, Jesus said to Simon Peter, “Simon, son of John, do you love Me more than these [others do—with total commitment and devotion]?” He said to Him, “Yes, Lord; You know that I love You [with a deep, personal affection, as for a close friend].”
John 21v15

Peter was the leader chosen by Jesus to feed his sheep. Peter was not in any way ready to take on this responsibility. Jesus asked him if he loved him, knowing full well that Peter loved him. Jesus was putting Peter on the spot so that he could change. Loving God’s people requires a great attitude change. To teach God’s word to his people requires great discipline and a love for God’s word. Change is required and Peter rose to the occasion. He put aside his personality of being in charge and even correcting Jesus when he felt he needed to.

Peter yielded to the Holy Spirit and became one of the greatest Apostles. The change was necessary for the plan and purpose of God to be fulfilled in his life. The holy Spirit released on him the spirit of Grace to change hence the change took place. We too have to yield to the word and the spirit of God to allow this grace to change. The change come with the grace.
