Giving with a Willing Heart

“Now when she had weaned him, she took him up with her, with three bulls, one ephah of flour, and a skin of wine, and brought him to the house of the LORD in Shiloh. And the child was young. Then they slaughtered a bull, and brought the child to Eli. And she said, “O my lord! As your soul lives, my lord, I am the woman who stood by you here, praying to the LORD. For this child I prayed, and the LORD has granted me my petition which I asked of Him. Therefore I also have lent him to the LORD; as long as he lives he shall be lent to the LORD.” So they worshiped the LORD there.”
This is giving on another level. Hannah could not have a child and when a child was given to her by the prophetic words of the Priest and prophet Eli, she made a commitment to lend the child to the Lord for the rest of his life. Imagine that, she could not have a child for years, she was ridiculed for her inability to conceive and here God gives her a child. Hannah was so
committed to God that she first weaned her child and then took him to the temple to go and serve in the temple. It must have been so difficult to give up her child, but she had promised the Lord so she gave her child to the priest to train up to serve in the temple. He served in the temple until the day he died.
Hannah was blessed, as she gave her first born to God, God blessed her with more children.
If you are willing and obedient, you will eat of the fat of the land. It’s a promise and from this story we can see it is true. Will you be relentless in your giving?
