Strength in Joy

Pastor Zubeda Sing · 2 min read

“Then he said to them, “Go your way, eat the fat, drink the sweet, and send portions to those for whom nothing is prepared; for this day is holy to our Lord. Do not sorrow, for the joy of the LORD is your strength.”
Nehemiah 8v10

We need strength to live and live life to the full till it overflows. When our body fails us due to sickness or disease, it is the joy on the inside that causes us to stand up and face whatever it that is trying to destroy our lives.

When we get bad news or face challenging situations with colleagues or family members, we tend to lose our joy and with it comes a loss of strength or drive to move forward. It is in times like this that we need to draw on the joy of the Spirit of God resident on the inside of us. As we yield to this joy, it’s as if something explodes on the inside of us and there is a surge of power that flows through us that brings with it, the joy of the Lord referred to in this scripture. We need not sorrow, for the joy of the Lord is our strength.

Living God’s way means making His priorities our priorities, even when His are different from ours. The Bible tells us how to order our lives according to God’s will. Understanding and obeying Scripture brings joy to our lives and teaches us to acknowledge God’s hand in our successes.

The Thriver makes a determined effort to allow this joy to be developed in their lives, by the Holy Spirit as they feed on the presence of God in prayer and fellowship with the Father.
