Temptation and the Thriver

Pastor Zubeda Sing · 2 min read

“Rescue us every time we face tribulation and set us free from evil. For you are the King who rules with power and glory forever. Amen.’”
Matthew 6v13

Temptation translates a Greek word that can mean enticement to evil or testing in general, including various kinds of trials. The word should probably be understood in the broad sense, with the further understanding that while God permits testing for the purpose of strengthening faith and character, Satan entices to evil for the purpose of destruction .

Every man or woman will face temptation at some point in their lives. Whatever the temptation is, we will all face them. It is not the temptation that matters but how we respond to the temptation. Sometimes we may give in and sometimes we will be strong enough to say no to the temptation. The temptation leaves us with a choice, do I give in or do I succumb to the temptation which, perhaps looks very tempting at the time. The choice is yours to make. A Thriver makes an informed decision. The power of the Holy Spirit on the inside of them, gives them the ability to refuse, to withstand the temptation and even overcome the power of the temptation.

How do we get to the point of being immune to the temptations that do come into our lives. None of us are perfect, but we can arm ourselves with the word of God. We have the right to call on the name of Jesus at the time of the temptation and we can seal ourselves with the power of the blood so the enemy will not be able to overcome us. The main secret is, the fellowship of the Holy Spirit. We need to make time to pray and stay in the presence of God. we need the word of God to be on the inside of us, so the word becomes a sword against the temptation. The temptation can be anything, no one can tell what it is but we know for sure, God is with us and for us and he will never allow us to be tempted beyond that which we can endure.

Stand strong Thriver, you can overcome this temptation.

Thank You, Father, that no temptation comes to my life that is not common to everyone. Thank You for being a faithful God who will not allow me to be tempted beyond what I am able to withstand. Help me to remember, Lord, that when I face temptation, You will also make a way of escape, so I may be able to bear it.
