The Thriver Plans

“David said to Saul, “Let no one lose heart on account of this Philistine; your servant will go and fight him.””
1Sam 17v32

David was a thriver. He only knew victory and knew no defeat as his trust was always in the living God. Whilst taking care of the Sheep for his father, God enabled him to kill a bear and a lion. He knew his God as his strength and shield and exceeding great reward. His had no doubt that God would fight this battle against the Philistine for him. He had already tried and tested what God could do and his heart was full of his songs of victory because of what God could do in his life. When he saw this uncircumcised Philistine mocking the armies of the living God, he took this as a personal insult against the armies of God as He was acquainted with Jehovah could do, even though a youth like him. He planned to take this man down, not in his own strength but in the power and the might of the living God. His plan : The living God and a sling.

Sling: The sling was used with great accuracy as a weapon of war. The Benjamites were so accurate that they were able to split a hair with it (Judg. 20:16). It consisted of a small leather pouch with long leather cords attached at opposite ends. A stone in the pouch was whirled around the head and one end released, sending the stone with great velocity toward its target.

Against all odds, his plan succeeded. The enemy was taken down by one sling shot. His faith and ability of God on the inside of him, turned a battle around and worked in favour of the army of God. One young man’s faith could remove the enemy from the face of an army. He was willing to do it, even though that was not his mission on the battle field.

Family of God, you have the presence of God, you have the word of God, you have the name of Jesus, you have the blood of Jesus. Can anything stop you. Plan with our God and let the weapons of your warfare take victory upon victory so you can thrive together with those around you. We are thrivers in this life.
