Paul & Barnabas Set Apart
Pastor Zubeda Sing · 1 min read

“While they were serving the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, “Set apart for Me Barnabas and Saul (Paul) for the work to which I have called them.” Then after fasting and praying, they laid their hands on them [in approval and dedication] and sent them away [on their first journey].”
laid their hands on them. The laying on of hands was the church’s way of identifying with and affirming the mission to which God had called a particular person.
So, being sent out by the Holy Spirit, they went down to Seleucia, and from there they sailed to Cyprus. And when they arrived in Salamis, they preached the word of God in the synagogues of the Jews. They also had John as their assistant. Paul and Barnabas were set apart to go and minister to the lost gentiles in the various areas and together they made a great impact with the gospel of Jesus Christ. To them it was not just a mission but as bond servants of the Lord, they gave all they had to minister the gospel to the gentile world. No matter the circumstances they faced, they stood together in unity to fulfill the call on their lives as difficult as it may have been.
We need never consider the difficulties, as there will always be challenges, but we must be determined to stay the course as we have been called and set apart to do the work of the ministry.
