The Blessing of Being Chosen
Pastor Zubeda Sing · 2 min read
“While they were serving the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, “Set apart for Me Barnabas and Saul (Paul) for the work to which I have called them.” Then after fasting and praying, they laid their hands on them [in approval and dedication] and sent them away [on their first journey].”
Paul and Barnabas were chosen to go on a journey to spread the gospel. They were separated by the Holy Spirit, then prayed over by the apostles and sent out.
We too, are chosen, set apart and given a mission to fulfil in the kingdom of God. The Holy Spirit has equipped us for the task to which we have been called. We have been approved and dedicated unto the Lord. We are a chosen generation. A royal priesthood. We have been set apart. We are in the world but not of the world. The culture of the world is not our culture. We are of the kingdom of God and we belong to the culture of the kingdom of God.
We have been taught by the spirit of God to live the God kind of way. We are the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus. No matter how we try to run from this call, we will not be able to for very long, as the call of God on our lives will constantly pursue us and bring us back into his fold. He is our Shepherd and he will lead us and guide us in this life. We will never be fulfilled until we fulfill our call and mission in this life.
