A Clean Heart

“Create in me a clean heart, O God, And renew a right and steadfast spirit within me.”
What is a clean heart? A heart filled with the word of God. A heart that keeps company with the presence of God. A heart that has been washed by the blood of Jesus. A heart that is being trained by the Holy Spirit. A heart that has received the Lord Jesus Christ and salvation. A heart that has been washed from sin. A heart that is justified, just as if they have never sinned. A heart that believes and receive the word of God and the promises of God. A heart filled with faith and love.
In the above scripture, King David came to ask God to create in him a clean heart. David never had the opportunity or privilege of ever receiving Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour.
He never had the opportunity to receive the Holy Spirit, yet David believed and walked with God and God called him a man after God’s own heart. David was never washed clean by the blood so he lived by the Law and tried his best to fulfill the Law. He cried out to God after he had slept with Bathsheba and killed and husband. The guilt of the incident ate away at him and he had to come to God to restore the relationship. I love the way he says, renew a right and steadfast spirit within me.
We as born-again, spirit filled believers have a pure heart before God. We know God after our hearts have been washed and cleansed by the blood. We have fellowship with the Holy Spirit who is our teacher and guide. He has created in us a clean heart and a right spirit within us. What a joy and what a privilege. We have a right and steadfast spirit within us so we need never fear. We have a clean heart by the training of the Holy Spirit who is renewing us and transforming our lives daily. We are the address of the Holy Spirit as our hearts house the Holy Spirit. We have a clean heart! No fear, no condemnation.
