Avoid Temptation

Temptation started in the garden of Eden, even Adam and Eve were not exempt. There was a desire to be more in control of their life and somehow they thought God was holding out of them. God had given them the best of everything and the only thing he asked was that they did not eat of the tree of good and evil. Well, being human that is exactly what they were tempted with. The enemy messed with their thoughts, saying that God did not them to eat of this tree because he knew that once they ate of this tree, they would be just like him. That was a lie but they were tempted and gave in to that kind of thinking. The thinking brought them to a place of falling into the temptation and now all of us have a sinful nature because of what happened in the garden. They failed God and themselves and every generation after them. What we fear most will come upon us so we need to be careful in times of temptation. Our weakness or strong desire in a particular area becomes our root of temptation. It is costly, not only to us, but those who are associated with us.

No one is saying do not have fun or enjoy life, but please make sure what you want or desire will not take you away from the Lord. The enemy is just waiting on you to have a weakness which breaks the hedge and this is where the enemy will attack. Guard your heart and mind with all diligence for out of it are the issues of life. Temptation comes from the weaknesses in your life and gives the enemy a foothold. You need to document all of these so that you can recognise the temptation, knowing that it is not from God.

CONFESSION/PRAYER

Holy Spirit guard my heart and my mind. Keep me from evil and my mouth from speaking guile. Teach me to have sweet lips and not believe the thing that seem to surround me. Guard my tongue from speaking evil and put a door at the entry of my mouth so I am equipped at all times to overcome evil.
