Godly Choices

“Then Lot chose for himself all the valley of the Jordan, and he traveled east. So they separated from each other”
Gen 13v11

Abraham was called by God to leave his family, his country and his people. When he left, he took his nephew lot with him. The blessing was on Abraham so everything Abraham did prospered. Abraham enjoyed favour and good success as he was going with the promise of God. As a result of the promise and favour on Abraham, lot prospered too. In fact, he prospered so much that the land in which they live could not contain them, because their herds and cattle were just too much. The herdsmen of Lot and Abraham began arguing over the share of the land for the feeding of the animals. Abraham did not like this as he did not want strife between him and his nephew Lot. He then asked Lot to choose where he would like to go with his family and his belongings. Abraham was content for Lot to choose first. He was not intimidated by the choice as he was fully aware that God was with him.

Lot on the other hand, had become a little arrogant. He had become wealthy but he never associated his change of status with his Uncle Abraham. He thought he could make it on his own as he was smart in his own right. He chose the best part of the land and Abraham went the other way. The blessing went with Abraham. The favour and grace on Abraham did not go with Lot. Hence, lot ended up alongside Sodom and Gomora and the trouble that went with a fleshly choice. He had no control of his family or his wife. He was robbed and his family taken away. Abraham on the other hand, was still blessed and prospered. In Lot’s time of need, Abraham went to assist and get his family back.

I suggest strongly that you keep the right associations and remain with an anointed covering. The benefits of this grace and covering protect you and your family. Never assume you can make it on your own. God will always bring you alongside an anointed man or woman of God and you will partake of the grace on their lives.

The choice Lot made, cost him his wife. He failed to perceive where the blessing was, so he paid the price of an ungodly choice. He could have asked for advice, but he was too blind to see the blessing was on the life of Abraham.
