Do Not Judge Others

Pastor Zubeda Sing · 2 min read

“Do not judge and criticize and condemn [others unfairly with an attitude of self-righteous superiority as though assuming the office of a judge], so that you will not be judged [unfairly]. For just as you [hypocritically] judge others [when you are sinful and unrepentant], so will you be judged; and in accordance with your standard of measure [used to pass out judgment], judgment will be measured to you”
Mat 7v1-2

Jesus spoke plainly in the book of Matthew, saying we should not judge others. I like the way the amplified bible puts it “Do not judge or criticize or condemn others.” We do not have the right to judge others. When we judge others, we are really saying, we are better than them.

God wants us to love others, not judge them. We have all sinned and fallen short of the glory of God, yet Jesus died for us and rose again, making us free from sin and shame. We all have short comings or failures, yet it is easier to find fault with others. There is nothing more hurtful to an individual than being judged or criticized when they have tried their best to do their best. These hurtful words normally come to us when we are at our lowest, so let us remember when we want to criticize others.

The point of this verse is that a Christian must not judge or criticize in a way that they themselves would not want to be judged or criticized. Every judgment that a person makes becomes a basis for his or her own judgment.

When we judge others, we are giving others the chance to judge us as well, so let us reserve our comments and our judgements. We who walk in love have no room in our lives to judge others. We are not the judge and jury of others. We will leave judgement to God. He is the perfect judge.
