What Are you Looking at?

Pastor Zubeda Sing · 2 min read

“But Peter, along with John, stared at him intently and said, “Look at us!” And the man began to pay attention to them, eagerly expecting to receive something from them.”
Acts 3v4

In the above scripture Peter and John had come to the temple and at the gate beautiful there was a beggar who saw them and asked them for alms. He would go there everyday and beg and people would give him money. This was a common practice for him as he would beg and people would give him money. At the end of the day he would go home with the money he had collected. Well today was different, he was not just meeting people going to the temple, but two men filled with the Holy Ghost and power. They were not used to giving money to beggars, rather they were used to laying hands on the sick and the sick being healed. Peter and John looked at him intently. At first he was not sure what was going on as no money was being given.

Peter was clear with his instruction, “look at us”. He was saying to the man, an opportunity was at hand for you to never sit at this gate and beg ever again. In order for the man to have a status change, the man had to look at them to receive. The man did not truly understand so he obeyed the instruction in the hope that he would receive money. He was eager and he was expectant, but not for what Peter and John had to give him. He started looking at them and on doing this, he triggered the anointing in Peter who stretched forth his hand and asked the man to rise up. He immediately rose up to his feet and was completely healed. He had a status change from a beggar to a son of God.

Many of us are so used to our way of life that when opportunities are presented to us, we fail to seize them. We need to practice looking at the right things and not get distracted with the old way of doing things. When we look, we will receive a status change and an opportunity to come out of our old way of living. We will see the greatness of our God and the possibilities that he has to present to us.

Look to Jesus, He will never fail you, ever.
