A Soft Answer

“A soft and gentle and thoughtful answer turns away wrath, But harsh and painful and careless words stir up anger”
In all of our planning will have to factor in people. In order for our business and our dreams to be successful we will have to come into contact with people. We need people to buy our products and services. If we work for a company, we can do our jobs however we will have to get along with people to complete the tasks given to us. Not one of us is an island where we journey through life on our own. Some of us would like to avoid people at all costs but that is not possible in this life time. We need people and people need us.
Communication is a big part of the plan for your life as God will send various people into your life to assist and who will assist you. In your business, you will need to speak to customers and in your job, no matter how high up you are, you will need to communicate with different types of people. There are easy going people and there are difficult people. We need to allow the Holy Spirit to develop in us graceful or gracious speech. We need to know how to communicate with pleasant people and unpleasant people. In a situation where you are dealing with a difficult customer, it will not be wise to fight fire with fire. This is where this scripture fits in. You keep your cool and answer softly. The person can raise their voice and you know that you are in the right, however the wisdom of God in you will flow out by the manner in which you respond. You quieten your own heart and answer softly. The scripture says, a soft answer turns away wrath or anger. Should you get angry and retaliate, you only allow the situation to escalate and a solution is hard to find. This is where the fruit of the spirit of peace and long suffering come into play. The fruit of the spirit helps you with your communication skills. Relationships are a vital part of our walk so we need to develop good listening skills and good speaking skills. The Holy Spirit is the greatest help in this area.
You are a good communicator so you will handle matters in a pleasant manner. Give the Holy Spirit a chance to transform your communication skills.
