Overcome Discouragement

Pastor Zubeda Sing · 2 min read

“Moses returned to the Lord and said, “O Lord, why have you brought trouble upon this people? Is this why you sent me? Ever since I went to Pharaoh to speak in your name, he has brought trouble upon this people, and you have not rescued your people at all”
Exodus 5v22-23

Moses obeyed God exactly, and the situation got worse. So he went back to the Lord and said so plainly. There is no pretence anywhere in that prayer, and God was not offended by it.

Discouragement usually arrives after obedience, not before it. That is the hour to be honest with God rather than quiet with Him. Tell Him what you are feeling, and then remind yourself of what He said. He knows our frame and He is not fragile. Deliverance did come to Israel, and it came after the complaint.

Let’s be honest. God already knows what we are feeling. He can handle our anger, complaints, and disappointments. He understands us. He is aware of our human frailties (Ps. 103:14) and can be touched with the feelings of our infirmities (Heb. 4:15).

Discouragement you have no power over me, the spirit of the Lord sustains me always.
