Spirit Man Vs Carnal Man
Pastor Zubeda Sing · 3 min read

“And I, brethren, could not speak unto you as unto spiritual, but as unto carnal, even as unto babes in Christ. I have fed you with milk, and not with meat: for hitherto ye were not able to bear it, neither yet now are ye able. For ye are yet carnal: for whereas there is among you envying, and strife, and divisions, are ye not carnal, and walk as men? For while one saith, I am of Paul; and another, I am of Apollos; are ye not carnal?”
Paul was talking to the church at Corinth saying to them he had been teaching them the milk of the word. He had to be careful of the way he taught as they were yet, unable to receive the fullness of the message he had for the. They were babes in Christ and more in tune with their carnal nature and they could not understand the ways of the spirit man. The evidence of the carnal man was in their behaviour, the strife, envying, division etc.
Many of us still are very much in touch with our carnal nature. We have been born again and spirit filled, however we have not grown in to sonship. We are still feeding on the milk of the word. We can only tolerate a very watered-down gospel that please our ears and keep us comfortable. We enjoy our comfort-zone, we are happy with going to church and singing a few hallelujahs and then we go home and live as we have always lived. God will accept this kind of living only for a short time. The grace of God will cause us to repent and come to the place where we let go of our carnal nature and the world’s ways of doing things. As we yield to the workings of God in our lives, we start to grow in our sonship. (sons do not mean only males but it includes females as well). A child feeds on milk and it not able to do many things. There is a lack of authority and power in the life of a child. He is very limited in what he can do. Yet when we allow the Holy Spirit to grow us into sons, the authority on our lives increases and we are in a position to subdue principalities and powers. In our sonship, God is able to do exceedingly abundantly as the power increase in our lives and we are entrusted with the more than enough. Insufficiency and lack have to leave. We live in health and healing because we know who we are in Christ. We are free to be all God has called us to be.
