Never Lose your First Love

““But I have this complaint against you. You don’t love me or each other as you did at first! Look how far you have fallen! Turn back to me and do the works you did at first”
You crazy Galatians! Did someone put a spell on you? Have you taken leave of your senses? Something crazy has happened, for it’s obvious that you no longer have the crucified Jesus in clear focus in your lives. His sacrifice on the cross was certainly set before you clearly enough.
Let me put this question to you: How did your new life begin? Was it by working your heads off to please God? Or was it by responding to God’s Message to you? Are you going to continue this craziness? For only crazy people would think they could complete by their own efforts what was begun by God. Gal 3v1-4
Our heavenly Father loves us, all He wants is first place in our lives. He wants us to have him on our hearts. He needs to be the first person we think of when we get up and when we face any challenge, He wants us to know that He is our GO-TO person. Our God and our King, the God who never fails.
We start out on this journey of salvation all fired up and zeal that no one can hold back. We are at every meeting and we volunteer even if there is no place available for us to serve. We love our God with a passion. As time goes, we lose our first love, the passion goes and the fire in our heart seems to die down. We find going to church a real effort, actually we even get into the mode where we start making excuses as to why we do not want to go to church. The question Paul asked the Galatian church was what has stolen your heart away. What has caused you to become cold towards God, the word in revelation asks. God actually makes a judgement here and says yes you were working for me and then what happened? How did you lose your first love for me. How did I become second in your priority list?
To every one of us, this question will have a different answer, but only each of us can answer this question individually. There is not one of us that does not slip at some point in time. Other things take priority in our lives and we seem to not need God as much as we did when we first started out on this journey. This causes the father’s heart to ache. He is waiting for us to return to him and call on him. His arms are wide open waiting for you to come so He can comfort you and heal you so the relationship can be restored and be better than it ever was. Step up from your drama and step into the arms of our heavenly Father. He will never turn you away. He is waiting patiently for you. Nothing can separate us from the love of God.
