Wisdom for your Eyes and Ears

Pastor Zubeda Sing · 2 min read

“Plans are established by counsel; So make war [only] with wise guidance”
Prov 20v18

Solomon tells us that lovers of God have been given eyes to see with spiritual discernment and ears to hear from God. Let’s deal with our eyes first.

God wants us to have the special ability to look at life with wisdom. Solomon warns in this chapter against intoxication (v. 1), indolence (v. 4), hypocrisy (vv. 9–10), financial stupidity and dishonesty (vv. 16–17), vindictiveness (v. 22), and impetuosity (v. 25). In verses like these, he is inviting those with eyes to see to discern the difference between wise conduct, which will help us to reign in life, and foolish conduct, which will greatly undermine our capacity to rule on the earth. His exhortation is for us to keep our eyes pure. You have an anointing on your eyes to discern, but it requires active participation. Pray over your eyes for wisdom.

We also need to guard our ears. If kings reign through wise counsel, then what happens when we fill our ears with foolishness? Embracing the wisdom of God’s ways will only lead us in ways of life. It will cause us to have unblocked ears to hear God’s “revelation words of knowledge” (v. 15).

I am sure you never thought of praying over your eyes and ears for wisdom to operate successfully in this life. Your prayer life is important. Each day as you pray, pray over your eyes and ears and even over your mouth so wisdom prevails in every area of your life.
