The Comforter Culture

Pastor Zubeda Sing · 2 min read

“All praise to the God and Father of our Master, Jesus the Messiah! Father of all mercy! God of all healing counsel! He comes alongside us when we go through hard times, and before you know it, he brings us alongside someone else who is going through hard times so that we can be there for that person just as God was there for us. We have plenty of hard times that come from following the Messiah, but no more so than the good times of his healing comfort—we get a full measure of that, too.”
2Corinthians 1v2-3

When we are born again, we receive the Holy Spirit who is our comforter, our teacher, our leader and our guide. He is a counsellor and standby when we need him. He teaches us the way of the Lord. He opens up the word to us so we can understand. It is vital for us to communicate with him every day so we can live a richer and fuller life.

The holy Spirit comforts us in our difficulty, in our grief and in our challenges. His love is overwhelming and fills our hearts when we are at our lowest. When we get over our difficulty because of his overwhelming presence, we are strengthened and given hope to go on.

In the same manner this comfort we received, we are then able to comfort others when they are going through any grief or are in need. We comfort them with the same comfort that the holy Spirit has comforted us with. When we grow in our confidence in what the Holy Spirit is able to do, we then transfer this same faith and comfort to those who are in need. We comfort others by a real experience, we ourselves have experienced. This is our culture of comfort. It is part of our daily walk.
