Understanding Your Purpose – Part 1

Dr RJ Sing · 2 min read

“Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will know what God wants you to do and you will know how good and pleasing and perfect his will really is.”
Romans 12:2 – NLT

If you want to know your purpose, begin with God and not with yourself. It all starts with God and it's not about you. The purpose of your life is far greater than your own personal fulfilment. If you want to know why you were placed on this planet, you must begin with God. You were born by His Purpose and for His Purpose only. You discover your purpose and identity, through a relationship with Jesus and His purpose for your life, predates your conception. He planned it before you existed, without your input. You may get to choose many things but you don't get to choose your purpose. Psalm 139:16 “You saw me before I was born and scheduled each day of my life before I began to breathe. Every day was recorded in your book.”

You are not an accident at all. God’s purpose for you anticipated human error and even sin. Your birth was not a mistake or a mishap. Long before you were conceived by your parents, you were conceived in the mind of God. He thought of you first. He deliberately chose your race, your colour, your hair and every other feature that you have.

God is not haphazard. He planned your whole life with great precision and His love. He created you for His purpose and pleasure.
