Principles for Giving No.2 (Part 2)

“Jesus sat down opposite the place where the offerings were put and watched the crowd putting their money into the temple treasury. Many rich people threw in large amounts. But a poor widow came and put in two very small copper coins, worth only a fraction of a penny. Calling his disciples to him, Jesus said, "I tell you the truth, this poor widow has put more into the treasury than all the others. They all gave out of their wealth; but she, out of her poverty, put in everything--all she had to live on.”
This teaching is now continued. The difference between her small offering and the offering of the rich was that she gave of everything. It cost her 100% commitment. This story of the poor widow and her offering of two mites was recorded to reveal Christ’s perspective concerning giving, and gives an example for us to follow in our giving.
It was not the amount of offering that was important but how she gave it. What are the finances God has placed into your hands? Like the widow, you may have very little of the world’s riches. However God requires that you be faithful with what you have.
God is aware of your financial circumstances. He observes how and what you give. When you give, God looks far beyond what you give to see your nature and purpose. So give your Best today.
