The Call to the Brother of John - James
Pastor Zubeda Sing · 1 min read

“Going on a little farther, He saw James the son of Zebedee, and his brother John, who were also in the boat mending and cleaning the nets. Immediately Jesus called to them; and they left their father Zebedee in the boat with the hired workers, and went away to follow Him [becoming His disciples, believing and trusting in Him and following His example].”
James was the brother of John, they were known as the sons of Thunder. James was one of the three that were in Jesus’s inner circle. They were privy to Jesus’s life and the way he did things. Everywhere Jesus went, the three, Peter, James and John were with him, even on the mount of Olives. Jesus poured himself into these three disciples, so much so that they were very effective as leaders even to the rest of the disciples. Unfortunately, James was killed by Herod before he could be effective in his call.
The call to serve comes at a cost. We each have a decision we have to make as to whether we will follow the call or not. Jesus gave an instruction for us to go and make disciples of all nations. For most of us, we are too afraid or we get too self-absorbed to go out and win souls. We focus on our own life and family and forget there is a lost world out there. Your life will only be fulfilled when you fulfill the mandate on your life.
