A Tree of Life

““For he will be [nourished] like a tree planted by the waters, That spreads out its roots by the river; And will not fear the heat when it comes; But its leaves will be green and moist. And it will not be anxious and concerned in a year of drought Nor stop bearing fruit.”
The heart is a tree of life. The heart births the life of a person and expresses it through words and thoughts. The tree that is planted in lush soil gives off a healthy look and the health of the tree is in the branches and then the fruit.
In the same manner our hearts reflect our healthy or unhealthy relationship with the Lord. When our hearts are flourishing it is because we are planted by the rivers of living water that come from the living God. Our time spent with God begins to cause our heart to thrive. We bring forth our fruit in its season and our leaves never wither. The fruit of our tree is the fruit of the Spirit of God.
But the fruit of the Spirit [the result of His presence within us] is love [unselfish concern for others], joy, [inner] peace, patience [not the ability to wait, but how we act while waiting], kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such things there is no law. Galations 5v22
The fruit of the Spirit describes a life where things are working harmoniously. It points to qualities of personality and to behaviors that make us function as better people. It points to what God wants to see in us and should see in us as we mature in the faith.
This fruitful lush tree is evidence of a man or woman who is planted in the house of God and is continuously watered by the word and the presence of God. Their daily lives draw their nourishment from their intimacy with God. As a result of this, they are a tree that brings life to all around them and shade for those who are in need.
An unfruitful tree is one that lives in barren ground and is never nourished by the word and the presence of God. Actually, most times the tree has never experienced the love and nurturing of the presence of God.
The thriver is a reflection of the tree planted by the rivers of living water and brings forth their fruit in season.
