The Power of Contentment
Pastor Zubeda Sing · 2 min read

“Not that I speak in regard to need, for I have learned in whatever state I am, to be content: I know how to be abased, and I know how to abound. Everywhere and in all things I have learned both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need”
The Apostle Paul was speaking here. He had learnt, that in whatever state he was in, to be content. What is this that he was saying. He had learnt the power of Contentment within the power of the Holy Spirit. He never looked at what he did not have, but gave thanks for the things he did have. The power of increase and overflow was in his hands and in his mouth. Like Jesus he could turn stones into bread but he refused to give in to his desires and wants. He did not have to prove who he was. He drove out the spirit of greed from his life. His concern was never for himself but also for those around him. He was a man of the word so he remembered the scripture in Isaiah 26v3 that says “God will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on him.” This peace created ideas and opportunities in him that brought him to this place of Contentment. He was a grateful person, who also understood that He could do all things, through Christ who strengthened him.
In saying all of that, I do not want you to misunderstand, this place of contentment is not complacency, nor a comfort zone that is going nowhere. It is a place on the move, you are thanking God for what you have, whilst using what you have to do more. It is a place of high praise because at this place you understand, your success and your thrive is not by might, nor by power but by the spirit of the living God. In this place of contentment and thanksgiving, you see the supernatural power of God at work. You will be able to turn water in to wine, when you run out of resources. Do you believe that is who you are?
Say to yourself, I am content, because this is my valley of growth
