Positioned for Greatness

All Gideon was doing at the time of the visitation of the angel, was threshing the wheat in a hidden place. They were under threat from the enemy so they had to hide what they were doing. What a menial task, or so the world would say and how we think about this kind of work. Not so with our God. God sees Gold and potential in every human being. He saw greatness in Gideon. He saw a man who was humble enough not to be obsessed with what he could do. He took no time to brag about his talents and achievements. He took the lower position and decided to serve. He was a servant leader. He did not even believe the angel when he spoke to him. Actually, he put a fleece before the Lord to prove to him (Gideon) that he had actually called him to do the task that was given him. He did not give God one fleece but two. We could call him doubting Gideon. Gideon’s vision of himself was so small and insignificant that he could not believe God had called him to do such a great task. God called him because He knew Gideon would give him the glory for the victory. The name of Jeshua would be lifted up.

The army God chose to go against the enemy was just as insignificant in number, from 30 000 to 300. This reinforced Gideon’s fear and inferiority. God gave him the confidence and commanded him to go forth and do what he had called him to do. In the end, this insignificant Gideon and only 300 men won the victory against the enemy. They wiped them out and God was glorified. This is our God. He knows the end from the victory and He is confident that no enemy in hell could ever win against His people. He is God and no weapon formed against us can ever prosper.

We do not need much to succeed in this life. All we need is our God on our side. The bible says, if God is for us, who can be against us. The presence of God in our life is prosperity, that is wholeness, nothing missing and nothing broken. God is well able. Trust and believe!

CONFESSION/PRAYER

Heavenly Father, I put my trust in you. Open up my eyes of faith that I am able to see that more are they that are with me than they that are against me. You are my God and I am your family so you have made me more than conqueror in Jesus. Jesus is all I will ever need in this life. Thank you Jesus.
