The Blessing of Living Fear Free
Pastor Zubeda Sing · 2 min read

“But about midnight when Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns of praise to God, and the prisoners were listening to them; suddenly there was a great earthquake, so [powerful] that the very foundations of the prison were shaken and at once all the doors were opened and everyone’s chains were unfastened. When the jailer, shaken out of sleep, saw the prison doors open, he drew his sword and was about to kill himself, thinking that the prisoners had escaped. But Paul shouted, saying, “Do not hurt yourself, we are all here!” Then the jailer called for torches and rushed in, and trembling with fear he fell down before Paul and Silas, and after he brought them out [of the inner prison], he said, “Sirs, what must I do to be saved?”
Paul and Silas had been imprisoned for preaching the gospel. The Jews who were against them had them sent to jail. They were not only put in jail, but placed in the deepest darkest part of the jail, like a dungeon. They would be sentenced the next day. This did not disturb them at all. They were on a mission and were confident that God would come through for them. In the midst of the dark, smelly, damp jail, they lifted their eyes off their circumstances and what would happen and decided to sing praises to the Lord most High. They were not afraid. The fear of the unknown did not affect them. They were too convinced of the fact that God would keep his promise. They had entered in to a rest in the promises of God’s word. They knew, that they knew, that God would come through, some way and some how. Their praises were a weapon used against the fear that was trying to overcome them. The prison walls could not even dampen their faith. The walls of fear was trying to cave in on them but they held them at bay with their praises which were like mighty weapons keeping them safe in the arms of Jesus. Fear was an illusion to them. Something they could not allow to enter their hearts or the physical prison they were locked in. they were fearless!
Family of God, do not let fear be a prison that keeps you in bondage. Look up, your salvation is at hand. The God of the break through is right there with you. Sing praises and give thanks, you are blessed to live fear free. Make a decision today, you will live fear free. You have the faith to overcome fear in every area of your life.
