The Blessing of Compassion

“And when she opened it, she saw the child, and behold, the baby wept. So she had compassion on him, and said, “This is one of the Hebrews’ children.””
The background to this story is, the sons of the Hebrews were being killed, especially those who had just been born, because the king had given a decree to have all the sons of the Hebrews who were born to be killed. The midwives were especially informed that they would kill the baby boys and only keep the baby girls. Moses’s mother on the other hand was a daughter of covenant and the Lord allowed her to see that Moses was a special child, so she kept him alive and when she could no longer keep him alive, she took him to the river where the sister of the king would be bathing in the hope that he would survive.
The sister of King was bathing when she saw the basket caught in the bulrushes. I am amazed at the word used, she had compassion on him and saved him. The irony is, she even knew that this child was one of the Hebrew children, yet she kept him alive. If this women who was not of the covenant children of Israel could be moved with compassion. What about us, who are filled with the holy Spirit and power, should we not be moved with compassion to save the lost. Compassion moves us to do something for someone else. Moses was a child of covenant with a mission to save his people and God created the opportunities and people in his path to keep him safe to fulfill his purpose and calling.
Let your heart be moved with compassion so you touch and save the lost. This is a blessing that rests on your life, activate it today!
