Learn to Discern

Pastor Zubeda Sing · 2 min read

“And I set my mind to know [practical] wisdom and to discern [the character of] madness and folly [in which men seem to find satisfaction]; I realized that this too is a futile grasping and chasing after the wind. For in much [human] wisdom there is much displeasure and exasperation; increasing knowledge increases sorrow.”
Isaiah 1v17-18

Jesus was clear as He gave instructions to the disciples. He said it is necessary for me to go away, so I may send you another comforter, one just like me, “Parakletos”. He is a comforter and guide, intercessor and standby. The Holy Spirit is our best friend. We need to develop a relationship with Him if we want to live a stress-free life. When He walks with you, you feel his presence and you hear his voice. One of the greatest gifts you will receive for your everyday, living, walking, working and talking life, is the gift of discernment. Wisdom and discernment will help you with your interaction with people. He will let you know whether to trust a person or not. He will give you the wise answer of the tongue. Discernment will tell you when to speak and when to be silent. When dealing with a matter, he will reveal things to you and teach you how to handle the problem. Initially it may seem difficult as you do not know him that well, however as you take the time to read the word and know the voice of the Holy Spirit, you will start to depend on his insight in your life.

In your private life, the Holy Spirit will give you discernment regarding your personal relationships. In your business life, the Holy Spirit draws alongside you and tells you ahead of time about things in the lives of your family or home. In your professional life, he is ever present and will let you know the things you need to know, to make your life successful.

The spirit of discernment helps you tremendously in your everyday life. Practice the presence of God in your life.
