The Blessing to Encourage

Pastor Zubeda Sing · 1 min read

“Now Joseph, a Levite and native of Cyprus, who was surnamed Barnabas by the apostles (which translated means Son of Encouragement), sold a field belonging to him and brought the money and set it at the apostles’ feet.”
Acts 4v36

Barnabas was not an apostle, just a man called by God to walk alongside the disciples and be an encourager. When Paul was saved, the apostles and disciples would not accept him because of his past, they did not trust him. Barnabas took it upon himself to go and find Paul and bring him to the disciples and vouch for him. What an incredible gift, an encourager. A person who builds others, the repairer of a bridge, reconciliation. These are attributed of the Holy Spirit that he had worked in the life of Barnabas. He did a great work in bringing Paul into the host of disciples for the greater kingdom. It was not about him at all, but about the work of the ministry. He realized there were things he could not do but Paul was much for suited to the work and he complied.

I know you too are an encourager. You build people and notice those in need. Please do not neglect this gift. We need you in the kingdom. Whilst most of us are busy, God places you in the necessary places so that his gospel can be preached and lives changed. Rise up, encourager, we need you, there are too many broken people.
