Goals for My Purpose

“Some men came down from Judea and began teaching the brothers, “Unless you are circumcised in accordance with the custom of Moses, you cannot be saved.” Paul and Barnabas disagreed greatly and debated with them, so it was determined that Paul and Barnabas and some of the others from their group would go up to Jerusalem to the apostles and the elders [and confer with them] concerning this issue. So, after being supplied and sent on their way by the church, they went through both Phoenicia and Samaria telling in detail the conversion of the Gentiles, and they brought great joy to all the believers. When they arrived in Jerusalem, they were received warmly by the church and the apostles and the elders, and they reported to them all the things that God had accomplished through them.”
Paul and Barnabas were set apart by the Holy Spirit to go out and minister to the gentiles. Many were touched and received Salvation, receiving Jesus Christ as Lord and saviour. There was freedom and liberty that was introduced to their lives. Along came some of the Jewish brethren to bring in the law of circumcision. In the midst of their call and purpose and the victory they were experiencing in church growth. Paul and Barnabas has to take a detour to rectify the matter. Their goal was to bring liberty and freedom to those new believers. They knew that Jesus came to set them free to the gospel of grace and not restrict people to the Law. The law was not what we had to live by. We were called to live by grace.
We too are called to live by Grace. Grace is Jesus. Jesus made provision for everything we will ever need in this life of salvation. Set goals for your purpose and calling so you are never stuck in the same place all your life. Growth is part of your purpose, but you have to set goals for your growth as well. There is new life in Christ so your life will evolve and change as the seasons of your life change too. Be all God has called you to be.
