Called by God or Called by Man

Pastor Wesley & Yajhna Sing · 2 min read

“Now the LORD had told Samuel in his ear a day before Saul came, saying, Tomorrow about this time I will send thee a man out of the land of Benjamin, and thou shalt anoint him to be captain over my people Israel, that he may save my people out of the hand of the Philistines: for I have looked upon my people, because their cry is come unto me.”
1 Samuel 9v15

The people of God were crying out for a king to rule over them as the world and the various nations had. They did not want God to rule over them with a priest and prophet. It was too demanding on them and they were being held accountable. So, God heeded their cry and gave them a king of their choice.

A king of man voted in by the people does not come equipped with the necessary skill, power or authority to lead with the grace of God. He/she may succeed for a while and soon their self-efforts lead them into trouble. Just like Saul, he became another man and began to prophecy, however after a while he failed in his duties of leading God’s people. He led the people in the world’s way. We cannot be conformed to the norms and values of this world to be effective in the kingdom of our God. We have a sure calling from God. His calling is without repentance and he sustains us in this God life. Be relentless in your calling and lean on God, he will keep you in all of your ways to do all He has called you to do.
