An Opportunity to Increase

“And Jesus replied, "Let me assure you that no one has ever given up anything--home, brothers, sisters, mother, father, children, or property--for love of me and to tell others the Good News, 30 who won't be given back, a hundred times over, homes, brothers, sisters, mothers, children, and land--with persecutions! "All these will be his here on earth, and in the world to come he shall have eternal life.”
Money is a central heart issue in the Gospel. The rich young ruler (Mark 10:17) made a profession of Faith, but his money did not follow. Promises of love and discipleship to Jesus are empty until your things mean nothing compared to Him.
Consider the saying; ‘You always follow your money’ If Jesus had owned the rich man’s money, He would have possessed his heart! In Leviticus 25, the principle of the Sabbath year brought up an issue similar to the story of the rich young ruler. Simply stated, the people were told to give up something they wanted for God’s sake.
God then promised to ‘command His blessing’ so it would produce a triple harvest for three years! When will we ever learn that if we follow God’s laws of sacrifice and obedience, He is well able to speak to our circumstances with His Blessing. Jesus promised His disciples, ‘No one who has left home or brothers or sisters…for me and the gospel will fail to receive a hundred times as much in this present age’ (Mark 10:29-30) Don’t resent sacrifice, look at it as an opportunity to increase.
