An Opportunity to Increase

Dr RJ Sing · 1 min read

“Jesus said, Truly I tell you, there is no one who has given up and left house or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or lands for My sake and for the Gospel’s 30 Who will not receive a hundred times as much now in this time houses and brothers and sisters and mothers and children and lands, with persecutions—and in the age to come, eternal life.”
(Mark 10:29-30 – AMP)

Money is a central heart issue in the Gospel. The rich young ruler (Mark 10:17) made a profession of Faith, but his money did not follow. Promises of love and discipleship to Jesus are empty until your things mean nothing compared to Him.

Consider the saying; ‘You always follow your money’ If Jesus had owned the rich man’s money, He would have possessed his heart! In Leviticus 25, the principle of the Sabbath year brought up an issue similar to the story of the rich young ruler. Simply stated, the people were told to give up something they wanted for God’s sake.

God then promised to ‘command His blessing’ so it would produce a triple harvest for three years! When will we ever learn that if we follow God’s laws of sacrifice and obedience, He is well able to speak to our circumstances with His Blessing. Jesus promised His disciples, ‘No one who has left home or brothers or sisters…….. for me and the gospel will fail to receive a hundred times as much in this present age’ (Mark 10:29, 30) Don’t resent sacrifice, look at it as an opportunity to increase.
