Making Major Life Choices – Part 2

“Then Lot chose for himself all the plain of Jordan, and Lot journeyed east. And they separated from each other. 12 Abram dwelt in the land of Canaan, and Lot dwelt in the cities of the plain and pitched his tent even as far as Sodom. 13 But the men of Sodom were exceedingly wicked and sinful against the Lord.”
Abraham had strong values, which included his family, servants and others. He loved God and therefore decided to honor God with his substance. Abraham was not stubborn or hard hearted, he was flexible (able to yield) and God could easily communicate with Him. He had eternal value, so much so that, his vision went far beyond his life on earth and included more than wealth and fame. His vision would affect the eternal destiny of millions. Abraham also followed the paths of the Lord. Psalm 23:1 NLT “The Lord is my shepherd; I have all that I need.” The first path was deliverance (Psalm 78:13). The Lord knows how to deliver His people from all their enemies even if the path leads in some unorthodox ways.
The second path was guidance. He guided them with the cloud by day and with light from the fire all night, because the Lord’s path is always better than our own thoughts and plans, we should ask Him to show us where the cloud is moving in our lives. Finally, the third path was provision (Psalm 78:15). If we keep walking in the paths of the Lord, there will be constant provision. We must remember the words of Psalm 23:1. ‘The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not be in want.’ With deliverance, guidance and provision, why should we ever say of the path of the Lord, ‘*We will not walk in it’ (Jeremiah 6:16)
