Stepping Out in Faith

“So Abram said to Lot, Let there be no strife, I beg of you, between you and me, or between your herdsmen and my herdsmen, for we are relatives.”
Abraham’s confidence and faith in God was so strong that he gave Lot an opportunity to choose first as he knew God would come through for him (Genesis 13:5-7). So, familiar environments do not present a challenge enough to us to bring out the greatness that God places in us. They cause us to become blinded to possibilities, limit our potential and limit our territory and never challenges us to go further or broaden our horizons as God commands us. Even if we wanted to progress the familiar in our environment who have never succeeded or done anything will continuously remind us of how impossible progress or success is.
Familiar territory has people that we can lean on and draw from and as a result we never look to God. The voice of reason echoes louder than the voice of faith. The promise of God takes us to the unknown which is risky so we have to step out and step up by faith. This unknown promised territory goes beyond our reasoning mind and stretches us to the next level. This shows us things we can achieve that we never thought possible. It creates in us a desire to pursue the impossible as we lean and trust in God to enable us to conquer and embrace. There are no limits except those we allow to keep us within boundaries of fear and unbelief and we should like Abraham pursue the call of purpose for our lives.
