Be a Doer of God’s Word

“But be doers of the Word [obey the message], and not merely listeners to it, betraying yourselves [into deception by reasoning contrary to the Truth].”
Romans 12:2 NIV “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.” Our minds are renewed by the Word. The mind is renewed by studying the Word and by acting upon it. One may study the Word for years, but if he does not act on it and live it, he is not a doer of the Word then the mind is not renewed.
James gives us the secret in James 1:22 AMP “But be doers of the Word [obey the message], and not merely listeners to it, betraying yourselves [into deception by reasoning contrary to the Truth].” Many Bible students are deceiving themselves because they are not acting, living and doing the Word. We are indwelt by the Word (Colossians 3:16).
John 15:7-8, this is one of the most striking sentences in this epistle. The Word here is dwelling in us, producing prayer fruit. Verse 8 is prayer fruit. It is the Word bringing forth its own kind in the believer’s life and it is not only committing the Word to memory, which is valuable, but it is letting that Word become an integral part of our being. It lives in us.
