The Power of Forgiveness

Pastor Zubeda Sing · 2 min read

“and they said to Him, “Teacher, this woman has been caught in the very act of adultery. Now in the Law Moses commanded us to stone such women [to death]. So what do You say [to do with her—what is Your sentence]?”
John 8v4-5

This woman was caught in the act of Adultery and the Pharisees brought her to Jesus, straight from the scene of the crime. She was given no option but to stand before Jesus and her accusers. Please, do take note, the perpetrator, the man who committed adultery with her, was not present. It would seem the fault was only hers. It was only her who sinned. They were really testing him to see what his response with be.

However, when they persisted in questioning Him, He straightened up and said, “He who is without [any] sin among you, let him be the first to throw a stone at her. John 8v7

Jesus was too smart for them. He sat and began writing on the ground. When they persisted, he threw out a challenge, to anyone who was without sin to cast the first stone. None could qualify. We have all sinned and come short of the glory of God.

Straightening up, Jesus said to her, “Woman, where are they? Did no one condemn you?” She answered, “No one, Lord!” And Jesus said, “I do not condemn you either. Go. From now on sin no more.”] John 8v10-11

I love Jesus’s response to her. He lets her know that He did not condemn her at all. She should go on home and sin no more. The power of forgiveness. This is a blessing that Jesus came to give you and I. We do not have to judge others when we ourselves have sin in our lives. The best thing is, there is power in forgiveness.

A Thriver consistently walks in forgiveness as Jesus is their best example.
