Forgetting the Past

Pastor Zubeda Sing · 2 min read

“No, dear brothers and sisters, I have not achieved it, but I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead, I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us”
Phil 3v13-14

The past seems to be so real for some people. The memories are so controlling that it robs them of their present. Anything you try to do becomes a hinderance to you as you are more aware of your past and are too afraid to try anything new. The fact that you have failed in the past, you tend to think you will fail again. The trauma you have faced, makes you feel too afraid to face anything like it again. The fact that you have experienced these things maybe real, but there is another reality. The reality is that Jesus has died for you and rose again. You are now a new creation in Christ Jesus and nothing of your past can ever control you again. You are free, you are blood washed and you are anointed.

He has freed your mind, freed your heart and every aspect of your life has been sanctified. You have been glorified and the power of God lives on the inside of you. Your spirit man has been completely set free, it is your soul realm, your mind and your emotions are what need retraining. We need to allow the Holy Spirit to work on our lives, to remove all the past trauma and hurts that have numbed your life and caused you to live a low level of life. Jesus came to give us life, to the full, till it overflows. There is a higher life that we are called to.

We have to make a decision to forget. We need an anointing to forget. The spirit of God needs to be allowed entrance in to our hearts and minds so we can be reprogrammed to the original factory setting as we were initially programmed in the garden of Eden. You are called to live in the present, the now, the victory and the success to which God had called you to.
