Season of Harvest

Pastor Zubeda Sing · 2 min read

“So, she kept fast by the maidens of Boaz to glean unto the end of barley harvest and of wheat harvest; and dwelt with her mother-in-law.”
RUTH 2V23

Ruth made a quality decision after her husband died, she chose to follow her mother-in-law and also follow her God. Ruth was a pagan before following her mother-in-law and marrying her husband. She had come to experience the goodness of God in this chosen nation. The death of her husband, brother-in-law and Father-in-law only re-inforced her commitment to follow the ways of the Lord. She obviously saw the blessing on their lives, the fruitfulness they experienced and the protection of God on their lives. She did not hesitate and God rewarded her richly.

She followed and was able to meet a man named Boaz. She gleaned from the fields of Boaz without even sowing anything. She only sowed her decision to obey and follow her mother-in-law. Her obedience led to her season of harvest. She earned her name being included in the lineage of Jesus after giving birth to a child from Boaz.

The decisions we make will either bring harm or enhance our lives. God works all things together for our God. We must never make selfish decisions where only we reap benefits. Our self-effort when doing things is like trying to spend monopoly money to make purchases. In this world of ours, the monopoly money does not work. God prepares a harvest for us and we access this harvest by our sowing. As we become generous in our sowing, we start to receive seasons of harvest and live in the rhythm of miracles.
