My Purpose in My Giving

“For instance, there was Joseph, the one the apostles nicknamed Barnabas (which means “Son of Encouragement”). He was from the tribe of Levi and came from the island of Cyprus. He sold a field he owned and brought the money to the apostles.”
Barnabas was not only used as a minister to meet spread the gospel but his relationship with the apostles started out earlier on. He gave into the kingdom of God when there was a need. He did not just give, he gave his all from the field he sold. This act of giving was part of his purpose. He was relentless in extending the kingdom of God and winning souls. One could say he was sold out to the gospel. He would do whatever it took to spread the good news about Jesus.
Our purpose is to win souls, our giving is to fulfill this purpose. We are compelled by our love for God to give into the kingdom as we want to see souls won to Christ. The nature of God in us moves us to give. Our love for the kingdom takes a hold of our heart and out of the abundance of our heart we give. There is purpose in our giving, the extension of the kingdom of God.
