Sacrificial Decisions

Pastor Wesley & Yajhna Sing · 2 min read

“Then Mordecai commanded to answer Esther, Think not with thyself that thou shalt escape in the king's house, more than all the Jews. For if thou altogether holdest thy peace at this time, then shall there enlargement and deliverance arise to the Jews from another place; but thou and thy father's house shall be destroyed: and who knoweth whether thou art come to the kingdom for such a time as this? Then Esther bade them return Mordecai this answer, Go, gather together all the Jews that are present in Shushan, and fast ye for me, and neither eat nor drink three days, night or day: I also and my maidens will fast likewise; and so will I go in unto the king, which is not according to the law: and if I perish, I perish. So Mordecai went his way, and did according to all that Esther had commanded him.”
Esther 4v13

Esther was chosen as Queen over Vashti however she was a Jew. She had been called to the kingdom for such a time as this. However it would mean she would have to make decisions that could affect her life as a Jew. In this instance her uncle Mordecai asked her to appeal to the king and she told him that she could not do this as he had not called for her. Mordecai

Warned Esther that God needed her. This meant she had to sacrifice her life for the cause. The decision would mean she could be killed if she entered the court of the king. She decided after considering the odds that she would risk her life for the safety of her people.

We too may have situations where we have to consider how decisions would affect our lives, but at the end of the day we have to consider the will of God and the way of the kingdom. Your life matters, but the kingdom matters more. Sounds harsh but our love for God will guide us in the right direction.
