Becoming a Friend of God
Dr RJ Sing · 1 min read
“Friendship with God is reserved for those who reverence Him. With them alone He shares the secrets of His promises.”
We become a friend of God through constant conversation. 1 Thessalonians 5:17, “Pray without ceasing”. Friendship with God doesn’t require changing what you do, but changing your attitude toward what you do. We also become a friend with God through continual mediation. Prayer allows you to speak to God, while mediation allows God to speak to you.
Through becoming completely honest with God you draw closer to him and through choosing to obey God in Faith. In James 4:8 NLT “Draw close to God, and God will draw close to you. Wash your hands, you sinner; purify your hearts, you hypocrites.” 1 Samuel 15:22 NIV “But Samuel replied: “Does the Lord delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices as much as in obeying the Lord? To obey is better than sacrifice, and to heed is better than the fat of rams.”
Great opportunities may come to us once in a lifetime, but small opportunities surround us all the time. You become a friend of God through choosing to value what God values and desiring friendship with God more than anything else. In Philippians 3:10 AMP “For my determined purpose is that I may know Him…. more strongly and more clearly”
