Singing in the Spirit

Dr RJ Sing · 1 min read

“Don't drink too much wine, for many evils lie along that path; be filled instead with the Holy Spirit and controlled by him. 19 Talk with each other much about the Lord, quoting psalms and hymns and singing sacred songs, making music in your hearts to the Lord.”
(Ephesians 5:18-19)

This is very spiritual and you must sing in the Holy Spirit. As you sing, you sing unto the Lord. It is the outflow of the spirit filled experience. This is not singing to anyone else, but the Lord Himself. (See 1 Corinthians 14:15)

We are to praise and sing to the Lord the Most High. This is normal to the spirit filled Christian. Ephesians 5:19-21 “Speak out to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, offering praise with voices [ and instruments] and making melody with all your heart to the Lord, 20 At all times and for everything giving thanks in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ to God the Father. 21 Be subject to one another out of reverence for Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed One).”

This is Spirit filled singing and all Spirit filled Christians should yield to the Spirit of praise and worship. This is not a display of human talent or entertainment. No, it has a touch of God. It is of the Anointing of the Holy Spirit. It is a Holy exercise.
