Mustard Seed Faith

“And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.”
In the previous devotional we discussed how Jesus confronted the storm. We saw how Jesus spoke an “Authoritative Word of Faith” and got the desired result. Later He dealt with a Storm of a different kind. He dealt with a boy that was rolling on the ground with an epileptic seizure. He used the same principle in healing this boy. He drove the evil spirit out of the boy by speaking an authoritative Word of Faith.
Later His disciples questioned Him about the incident and Jesus told them that if they had Faith as a mustard seed, you shall say to this mountain, move from here to there, & it shall move, & nothing shall be impossible to you” (Matt 17:20). Here Jesus used a mustard seed as a measure of quantity. In Matthew 13:32, we are told that a mustard seed is “smaller than all the other seeds”. In other words Jesus made reference to the quality of one’s Faith, and not the quantity. If a person has the right kind of Faith in even the amount of a mustard seed, it is sufficient to move a mountain! When a believer operates in Divine Faith, His words are effective as if God Himself had spoken them.
