Make Your Pastor’s Job Easier (Part 3)

“In whose eyes a vile person is contemned; but he honoureth them that fear the LORD. [He that] sweareth to [his own] hurt, and changeth not.”
Make sure that you fit before you commit. I would encourage you to really pray before making a major commitment. Many people commit to serving in an area before really praying and thinking it through. They get excited about helping and do great at it, but they often don’t continue to be faithful.
Always pray so that when you do commit, begin to be consistent. On the other hand there are people who really love God but fail to commit to anything and they even use God as an excuse. They say, ‘Well, I don’t feel led’.
Your church may have an immediate situation that arises in which help is desperately needed. You may want to begin by helping temporarily to address an immediate need. And in the mean time you could be praying about making a long-term commitment. But the point is you can begin somewhere. Church does not just happen-People make it happen. So I urge you, Begin to help and get involved. Both the Lord and your Pastor will be pleased.
