God Reveals Himself Through His Son

“If ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also: and from henceforth ye know him, and have seen him. 8 Philip saith unto him, Lord, shew us the Father, and it sufficeth us. 9 Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Shew us the Father?”
No one has ever seen God. He is too great and too holy for man to lay eyes on “…you cannot see my face, for no one may see me and live,” God explained to Moses (Ex 33:20). But when God sent His Son to this world, everything changed. Jesus is indeed God, but was also a human being. Therefore people of His time could physically see and hear Him. “That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, of the Word of life; ” (1 John 1:1)
Jesus is the one who reveals the Father to us. Whoever knows Him, also knows God. In Jesus, the Holy God came into our presence. He is Immanuel, God with us. He reflects the characteristics of His Father in all He says and does. “Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father” He says to Philip. “I and the Father are one,” He tells His disciples. (John 10:30). If you get to know Jesus intimately by studying His Words and deeds in the Bible, you will also come to know God better.
