Power Principle for Giving No.9 (Part 2)

Pastor Zubeda Sing · 1 min read

“Cornelius stared at him in fear. "What is it, Lord?" he asked. The angel answered, "Your prayers and gifts to the poor have come up as a memorial offering before God.”
Acts 10:4

The Apostle Paul said, “Command them that do good, to be rich in good deeds, and to be generous and willing to store. In this way they will lay up Treasures for themselves as a foundation or the coming age, so that they will take hold of the life that is truly life (1 Timothy 6:18-19 NIV)

Now let us look at what Jesus said in the Book of Matthew: “For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.” Matthew 25:35-36 NIV.

In this parable the righteous are rewarded for their giving to the Lord. They do not realize the extent of their giving. It is clear from Jesus’ teaching in this Parable that as we give alms and minister to the poor and needy, we are actually giving to God, and are storing up Treasures in Heaven and will be rewarded. God promised to repay those who give to the poor. When we give it is like incense that ascends up to God as a sweet smelling savor and is a memorial before God on our behalf.
