Jacob and the Tithe (Part 2)

“And this stone, which I have set [for] a pillar, shall be God's house: and of all that thou shalt give me I will surely give the tenth unto thee.”
Jacob prospered and he became a very wealthy man. This was the direct result of an agreement he had made to give God a tenth of his increase. Jacob had a very large family to take care of and God supplied his every need.
As we further examine Tithing among God’s people in the Old Testament, we find that under the Law of Moses, the tithe simply belonged to God. Let us look at the following Scripture: *“27:30 And all the tithe of the land, [whether] of the seed of the land, [or] of the fruit of the tree, [is] the LORD'S: [it is] holy unto the LORD. 27:32 And concerning the tithe of the herd, or of the flock, [even] of whatsoever passeth under the rod, the tenth shall be holy unto the LORD.”Leviticus 27:30, 32.*
The entire Tithe is Holy to the Lord. In *Deuteronomy 14:22 God said: “Be sure to set aside a tenth of all that your fields produce each year.” That is tithing. In the New Testament, Tithing reappears in the Priesthood of Jesus. We will discuss this in the devotional to follow. Remember that Jacob was a blessed and wealthy man because he practiced the principle of Tithing
Jacob began small and then prospered Himself by the tithe.
