I Honour My Parents and Live Long!

“Honour thy father and mother; (which is the first commandment with promise;) That it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on the earth.”
As you honour your father and mother, you will enjoy a long and satisfied life. This is the first commandment that comes with a Promise. As you do this, it will go well with your life. You will enjoy a long, full and abundant life. Let us look at another Scripture in this Book of Exodus: *“Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee.”Exodus 20:12.*
Those who are adults should continue to love and respect their natural parents. In the Kingdom of God, you also have spiritual parents. They too should be respected and honoured. *“Honour thy father and thy mother, as the LORD thy God hath commanded thee; that thy days may be prolonged, and that it may go well with thee, in the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee”Deuteronomy 5:16.*
For children (those who are still living under the roof of their parents), you must obey your parents and do as they instruct that is in line with the Word of God. You should not rebel against your parents, but submit to their authority. As you do this, all will go well with you and your life. Even if you have elderly parents, when you take care of them, God blesses your life.
