Sermon outline

Deliverance and healing are already done, so families come forward together for an impartation of the Spirit for service, and go home as new men, new women and new families who deal with life as victors, not victims.

Main text

  • 2 Corinthians 5:17

Opening

The recording opens mid-prayer. He prays that the church would know the voice of the Lord the way a mother knows the kick of her baby and the cry of a newborn, that the eyes of their understanding would be enlightened, and that they would see further than the situation allows, without having to question who is speaking to them.

  1. Know the voice of the Lord instinctively

Just as a mother knows her children's voices, movements and cries, believers must know the voice of the Lord. He prays for a spirit of discernment, for hidden things to be revealed, and for people to hear God clearly so they can navigate their lives and serve Him better. Some are sitting with decisions about a job, a move or an investment, and God's voice is going to be in their ear.

Illustration: A mother knows the kick of a baby in her belly and understands the groans of a newborn without being told.

“Just like a mother knows the kick of a baby in her belly, just like the mother understands the cry of a newborn baby or the groans of a newborn baby, so must we know the voice of the Lord.”

    • Ephesians 1:18
  2. Come down as families for an impartation for service

Families come forward together, and anyone serving elsewhere that night is to let someone else take over so they can stand with their family. Three pairs of pastors lay hands on each family. This is not prayer for deliverance and healing, which he says is already done; it is an impartation of the Spirit of the Lord for service, effectiveness and fruitfulness in the year ahead, at home, in ministry, in business and in the workplace, sealing children, grandchildren and the bloodline.

“We're not praying for you for deliverance and healing, that's already done.”

  3. You are not going home to the same situation

They are taking the presence of the Lord home, as completely new men, new women and new families. The way they think, speak, respond and react will be different, and when they break the fast they eat in celebration of what God has already done. Dealing with a difficult or obnoxious partner, they now speak from a position of power, not as a victim, declaring restoration over the house and salvation over that person, and he expects to see that person one day pulling them out of bed for church.

Illustration: His own testimony: he used to be so angry he put holes in walls and could break a car's steering rack by hitting the steering wheel, and when the Lord touched his life it completely changed.

“When you deal with that partner, you're dealing now from a position of power, not from a victim.”

  4. Old things have passed away

Old cultural ways, behaviours and habits have passed away and all things are new. He declares that curses are broken and bloodlines restored, so that what grandparents and great-grandparents suffered no longer has to be passed down, and he speaks healing over chronic conditions. The night was confirmation of what God had already begun during the week of prayer and fasting.

“We are no longer victims. We are victors.”

    • 2 Corinthians 5:17

Putting it into practice

  • Come forward as a whole family, and let someone cover your post if you are serving
  • Go home as a new man, new woman and new family, and break the fast in celebration
  • Deal with a difficult person in your home from a position of authority, not as a victim
  • Watch through the coming week for habits and reactions that are simply no longer there

Closing

He gives no benediction because the ministry time follows. He sends the families forward row by row to the three ministry teams, starting with the praise and worship team and their families on the stage, and the recording continues through worship while hands are laid on each family.

Worth remembering

  • “We're not praying for you for deliverance and healing, that's already done.”
  • “You are not walking to the same situation you left home with.”
  • “When you deal with that partner, you're dealing now from a position of power, not from a victim.”
  • “We are no longer victims. We are victors. We walk in victory. We speak in victory.”
